This research note was written in response to a 2014 British Journal of Political Science article by Eleanor Neff Powell and Joshua A. Tucker, which can be found here. Shortly before our research note was published, we discovered that the British Journal of Political Science had accepted a response to our research note from Powell and Tucker. Given the content of our research note, we were surprised that Powell and Tucker had written a response. Given our inability to respond in print, we decided to post our response here.
